The Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval, located in the commune of Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval in Haute-Savoie, is a natural site of exceptional beauty, offering hikers an unforgettable experience in the heart of the Alps.
This glacial cirque, around two kilometres in diameter, is surrounded by majestic limestone cliffs, the peaks of which reach an altitude of over 2,500 metres. In spring, the melting snow gives rise to around thirty waterfalls, some of which reach impressive heights, creating a breathtaking natural spectacle.
The main trail, accessible to all abilities, takes around 2 to 3 hours to complete. The route is well signposted and offers panoramic views of the waterfalls, cliffs and surrounding flora. Strategic observation points, such as the Samosse footbridge, offer unique views of the waterfalls and surrounding mountains.
